The Enhanced 2008 Olympics
I know that China had been struggling to get everything perfect for the Olympics, I don’t think they made the best decisions with their opening ceromony.
First, the cute child singing the Chinese national anthem wasn’t singing. Nine year old Lin Miaoke who was seen singing “Ode to the Motherland” was actually lip-synching while seven year old Yang Peiyi actually sang the song. The biggest reason I have a problem with this is because it was done for “national interest” as Yang Peiyi did not have the image they wanted to portray. If it was done because the child had trouble performing in fromt of a crowd, I wouldn’t be bothered by it.
Next, the fireworks display during the opening ceromony that was shown around the world contained both prerecorded footage and computer generated fireworks. I know the opening ceromony is a huge event, but it just doens;t seem right to me. I guess now China can be known for their CGI fireworks and their real ones.
