I haven’t posted much here is a while and it is time for a much needed update.
First, I finally replaced my dead Toshiba laptop with an Acer netbook. Not a bad little machine. I replaced the 1GB RAM with 2GB and it is running XP. I would love to see how it runs with Windows 7 on it though. I am going to have to track down a copy. It only have a 10” screen, but I believe netbooks are supposed to be smaller devices and not the size of a laptop. It has build in wireless and Bluetooth and a slop for a 3G card if I wanted broadband access from someone like AT&T. Overall, it does everything I want and need it to do. Now to just get writing. I was using not having something like a netbook to write on as my accuse for not writing. Well, I fixed that problem.

I got the rest of my new tribal spine tattoo filled in last night. The next step is to go over the existing wolf tattoo to blend it better in to the new work and to have the blacks match.
The other day I finally submitted a piece of short fiction to a magazine in the hopes of being published. The lucky or unlucky, depending on how you look at, magazine is Fantasy and Science Fiction. I just have to wait about 8 weeks for the form letter rejection. I’m a pessimist, people. That way I only get news I was already expecting or good news. The story I sent was Super Hero vs. Evil Doer. I have spent quite a bit of time editing and getting the story to a good place. I got to a point where I realized I just needed to submitted somewhere or move on. So I submitted it. If they don’t like it then I will try a few more places, but it is hard to find print magazines that publish short stories these days. Now to start on a new story.
I recently started playing Batman: Arkham Asylum which features an awesome version of The Joker voiced by Mark Hamill. It got me thinking about who has “played” The Joker and which ones are my favorite. My only question is, is he The Joker or just Joker?
Mark Hamill (Batman:Arkham Asylum) – Most people don’t think of The Joker when they hear Mark Hamill’s name, but instead picture Luke Skywalker. Mark has had a very extensive career doing voices.
As a voice actor, Mark has done the voice of The Joker for thirteen different shows and at least on video game. His career as The Joker started in 1993 with Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and his most recent role being the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum.
The following is a list of Hamill’s Joker roles. Unless noted, they are animated:
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman
Superman
The Batman Superman Movie: World’s Finest
The New Batman Adventures
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Batman: Vengeance – video game
Static Shock
Birds of Prey – live action
Batman: New Times
Justice League
Robot Chicken
Batman: Arkham Asylum – video game
Mark Hamill has also done voices on two Batman cartoon series in which he did not do the voice of Joker. Read more »
Yesterday I went and had the first session for my new tattoo done along my spine. This is what was done in two hours. I am hoping one more two hour session for the rest of the new tattoo to be completed and then one last session to go back over the existing back tattoo. The existing needs to be done so the blacks match since it is faded and the to blend it more into the new one.
Overall, it wasn’t so bad. For the most part, the same as the over tattoos I have gotten. There were a couple times that I was surprised I didn’t squirm when the artist was filling in right over the bone of my spine. At one point I could feel the vibrations of the needles throughout my rib cage. Not the most pleasant feeling.
I am still trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of the back. I have thought out text like a verse or something. Or even expanding out from the tribal spine into tribal ribs that wrap around the front. Now that would be interesting.
I have hit a snag in my ability to work on my site and update it like I want. My laptop has decided it does not want to play nice anymore; upon locking up and me force a reboot, it came up requesting a BIOS password. A password which I did not set.
Come to find out it is a known issue with the BIOS of my Toshiba which is good that they are aware of it. They even have an updated BIOS to upgrade to prevent the issue. Unfortunately, you have to fix it before it breaks. I am going to send it off to be fixed because they are supposed to fix it for free, but in a sense it is dead and must be in computer heaven. Now I just have to wait for the second coming of my laptop. Read more »
I am going to be making a few changes to the site in the next couple days. I would have done it today, but I left my ideas sitting on the coffee table and I am at work now.
I want to make the site more of a writer’s site. Have the blog on the front. Have a link to let you know about me. Have a page to showcase some writing since I will have a harder time getting something published via a magazine if I post (aka publish) it on my site.
So overall, not a huge change. I will remove a lot of the older stories, but do a better job of showcasing the ones I do have on the site.
